LOCATION:
Some 40-km north of downtown Kuala Terengganu, or 20-km from the airport. The Merang Jetty which goes to Pulau Redang is about 5 minutes away from this resort.

DESCRIPTION:
Another property design in a refined and tasteful Malaysian architecture, Sutra Beach Resort fronts the beautiful beach of Pantai Merang. It is no surprising that some travelers may spend a night here before proceed to their island destinations such Pulau Redang, the Perhentians and even Pulau Lang Tengah.

I feel that the best thing about this resort is the swimming pool!. It is designed to emulate an infinity pool concept. Breathtaking I must say. The swimming pool overlooks the beautiful ocean, and the many islands off the coast of Terengganu. You can easily spot the islands of Pulau Redang and Pulau Bidong from here, and on clearer day, Pulau Lang Tengah and the Perhentians as well.

There are a number of 2-storey hotel blocks arranged sparsely around the vast compound. I managed to get a sea-view room with a balcony, surprisingly too close to where the ocean waves break. Room design was fairly standard - they could do away with the unappealing blue-coloured bedsheet, for example. Not to mention the rough sandy cement floor.
