LOCATION:

On the southern end of Pantai Pasir Panjang (Long Beach) in Pulau Redang.

DESCRIPTION:
One of the the latest addition to the architecturally-enriching resorts in Pulau Redang. Located at Pantai Pasir Panjang, Laguna Redang was opened in early 2004. The resort boast an immaculate local Terengganu architecture blended with rustic Malaysian kampung theme.

There are various types of room: Run of the House (ROH) rooms, Deluxe, Sea View Deluxe and Suites. The resort also boast a massive buffet-style restaurant on the lobby's 2nd floor, a beach bar, a water-based activity center (for diving, snorkeling, etc) and an a la cartè café. It also hosts a large swimming pool and built-in jacuzzi, a karaoke bar, a large ballroom and its own dedicated jetty for arriving boats.

I paid RM500+ per night for a stay in Sea View Deluxe room, because of the high season (supposedly it was during school holiday doubled with the big National Day weekend). The room is equipped with hot shower, tastefully designed beds with timber flooring and side-seaview verandah, TV, etc.

The pricing may seem to be expensive by any standard. There are also surcharges for school holiday or public leaves, so do ask in advance. ROH rooms starts at RM330 but these would run out quickly due to the popularity of this resort among tourists, especially those from Taiwan and Hong Kong (the resort plays host to the famous "Mo Mo Tea House" which was featured on a popular Chinese drama, apparently).

If you take room-only package, be prepared to fork out another RM80 for round trip boat from Merang Jetty. Eating out is no problem with many restaurants along Pantai Pasir Panjang.

MY VERDICT:
Fabulous resort. Great architecture. Worth every penny. Although it can get really crowded.
