LOCATION:
From the North South Expressway (NSE or PLUS Highway), take the Tapah exit. After paying at the toll booth, turn left into the main Tapah - Ringlet road that leads to Cameron Highlands. This waterfall is located after some 30 minutes of driving from Tapah.

DESCRIPTION:
My trip to Lata Iskandar is somewhat a reminiscence of the old time. I have seen the picture of my mother taken against the backdrop of this popular waterfalls. This was back she was young and had traveled all over the country. Indeed, Lata Iskandar brings back the old memory and it is just as popular today as it was back then.

It is hard to miss the waterfalls. Not many places offer such great cascading waterfall view right by the roadside. Spectacular waterfalls of the world probably require up to one week of slogging and trekking before one can gasp at the beautiful and awe-inspiring view. Make no mistake, Lata Iskandar is not exactly the most dramatic of waterfalls there is, but who can blame the hordes of visitor who find it very accessible.

The main cascade is pretty much the feature at Lata Iskandar. Other cascades will definitely require climbing the cement staircases and even jungle trails in Hutan Lipur Lata Iskandar (Forest Park). If you have enough time to spare, you may attempt the jungle trail that runs along the cascade which should bring you to the second stage of the waterfalls. Otherwise, the view from the roadside is just as adequate.

To be honest, I did not find the water too inviting for a dip. The water was clear enough, but the idea of swimming by the busy roadside was probably not the best of idea. Anyway, there are a number of food stalls and handicraft outlets nearby the waterfalls. You may browse to see what you may like. To me, they are probably more of tourist traps than anything else.

MY VERDICT:
Great cascading view. A decent pit stop before heading to Cameron Highlands.
